Cramlington 2019

An outstanding year perhaps our best todate

County Leagues
A great year not only winning the Knight League Div.2 and promotion to Div.1 but by finishing third in the Clegg League we have gained promotion to Div.1 in that league also. Performance not so good in the Nines League finishing 9th out of eleven

County Championship Programme.
Many of our members took part in the county programme playing in a number of singles and doubles matches without success. I’m sure they will try again next year.

County Jubilee Cup Success
We entered two teams again this year Cramlington A & Cramlington B
both teams being unsuccessful on the day however due to the withdrawal of Hexham Elvaston because of their Top Club Commitments Cramlington B as the highest scoring looser from the previous round was invited to take their place in the final which they went on to win. Congratulations to A.Allenby, J.Sutherland, J.Summerside and K.Miles

We also entered teams in the Edwardson Cup and Challenge Cup competitions without success, but I’m sure we will try again next year

Local League Games
Another successful year winning both the  Blyth Valley Veterans League and  The Crawford Smith League. After gaining promotion to the  Parliamentary Div. 1 league last year we were unlucky to finish as runners up in the league but a great result nevertheless. Well done to all our members who took part in the leagues.

Klondyke

A very successful and well organised competition. Despite the weather the competition was played to a very high standard Cramlington having three of the four teams making it through to the semi-finals, that must be a record for the club . After a well contested and friendly final D.Melling K.Twist and D.Mitchell (Cramlington) finishing as runner ups to P.Nicholsen J.Howe and T.Whitelaw ( Hirst Park Bowling Club)
Congratulations P.Nicholsen J.Howe and T.Whitelaw winners of the 2019 open

Thanks to Bob Harrison, John Harrison and Joe Dixon for organising the event.

Friendly Cramlington v Lesbury
On Saturday 24th September Cramlington Bowling Club hosted this annual friendly. Over the years this event has become a firm favourite with our members and I’m sure everyone enjoyed the day.

Four teams of 3 players took part each team playing 21 ends, Cramlington winning 2 games and Lesbury winning 2 games the eventual winners on the day were Cramlington who finished with the highest overall score.

Many thanks to our Chairman John Harrison for organising the event and also his wife Hillary for supplying and serving the refreshments throughout the day. Thanks to Peter Stafford for selling the raffle tickets and also our club members who set the rinks up for the days play.

Last but not least our thanks to our friends and fellow bowlers from Lesbury who made this such a special day

Thank you

We would like to thank all our members and players especially those who provide transport to and from our games, also to David Melling, Steve Wilson and Jim Harrison to name but a few and also all those members who look after the flower beds and borders surrounding the green to ensure that we have such a colourful display each year the CBC Coal Tubs continue to be such an attractive addition around the green. A special thanks to the members wives for their support for the Cramlington Open selling tickets and refreshments and to Tony Fantozzi and Bob Corrie for the outstanding work they do each and every week to ensure the Jumbles is such a success.

Finally many thanks to our committee for all their hard work throughout the year keeping the club on an even keel.
