Cramlington 2025

County Competitions
Brian Turner & Darren Mitchell selected to play for Northumberland against Lancashire in the Alsop Cup. David Clough and Jacky Taylor were selected as reserves but did not play. Congratulations and well done to you all.

County Leagues
Due to some poor performances in the Knight League at the start of the season Cramligton failed to hold onto their Div.1 status and  have been relegated to Div 2. Towards  the latter stages of this competition there were signs of improvement and encouragement from within the club which bodes well for the future and I’m sure we will be back in Div 1 soon.
Clegg League Div 1 performances much better finishing a credible fourth in the league

County Championship Programme.
Many of our members took part in the county programme playing in a number of Singles, Doubles, Triples and Fours  matches without success. I’m sure they will try again next year.

let’s hope for a better result next year.

County Challenge Cup
Cramlington drawn to play in section B played at Morpeth  on 9th August Failed to make the final but will try again next year.

Local League Games
A little bit of a mixed bag as far as the results are concerned in the local leagues.

The Blyth Valley Veterans League
This year we finished 4th out of 7 teams taking part in the league. Not bad considering that league teams now consist of 3 teams of 3  players and that the emphasis on our team selectors was to ensure that all our members would be given an equal opportunity to play regardless of experience.

The Crawford Smith League
A great result this year finishing as runners-up to Crawford Park Bowling Club. Again team selection somewhat similar to the Blyth valley Vets league with 3 teams of 3 players however team selectors now trying to apply an equal opportunities selection procedure for our members without weakening the strength of each team too much.

The Parliamentary Div. 1 league.
A somewhat different format with 4 teams of 3 players with relegation and promotion in operation. Although we finished 6 out of 8 we still managed to retain our Div 1 status.
Parliamentary League Rington’s Cup  Competition
The final between Cramlington ‘A’ v Gosforth ‘A’ was held at Westerhope Bowls Club on Monday 18th August at 1:30pm. Cramlington ‘A’ consisting of David Smith, John Harrison & Bob Harrison beat Gosforth ‘A’ This is the first time a team representing Cramlington have won this cup. Congratulations a great result.

Well done to all our members who took part in the leagues.

Team Selectors and Team Captains
Thanks to our Selectors and Team Captains. team selection is not an easy task as there will always be an element of dissatisfaction with some members believing they could do better. Also thanks to those members who complete the score cards with the away captains on a weekly basis.
